Weekend Rules

I Lindsay, will take advantage of my weekend. I will not work (too much) or constantly think about what needs to be done. I will take time to sit, to relax by the pool (we’re still housesitting), and spend quality time with the hubs. I will not make plans or follow a training schedule. I will do what I feel like when the moment comes. I will smile, I will laugh, I will be kind to others (including myself), and I will breathe in fresh air (or humid air but you get the point).

I will follow these rules because I said so. And I need to practice what I preach!

P1190206P1190214P1190211
oh, and I will make a vegemite/butter GF sandwich.......
because that tends to be a favorite around here on the weekends.

I'm loving this idea! I live by rules and you know what, sometimes you just have to chuck them out the window! The weekend is a rather perfect time to do this... thank you for the reminder :)
And wonderful workout too! Outdoor ones like this are great, you can obviously do them anywhere

Good for you my friend. We all need to really take the time to enjoy our weekends (all days really) more. Do a little for ourselves for a changes. It's not selfish at all, it's smart.

Tri-Living...Together said...

You two are so cute! No rules.. hmm now how do I do that??

lindsay cotter said...

I totally agree Tessa! Sometimes the perfectionist side of me says to be always be productive, but that's not always what we need, ya know?

Wish I could do NO Rules on the weekend. But at last, I had a full schedule today.  Drove to Toledo, took a two hour test, packed some things into car, drove back home, laundry, dinner, abs workout(trying to tone stomach, any pointers on how to do that?) and now watching t.v. while playing on blogs and facebook.

lindsay cotter said...

I think it requires no kids, hehe! Jk.

love your workout!! i totally headed to school after my run to get some "work" in. I got a bit finished and then was just feeling tired. At first I tried to talk myself out of leaving but then I realized...I have a good book at home I want to be reading and it is summer so it is TOTALLY OKAY to take some time for myself after I already had a long week of work! :) Love your hiking pics!

lindsay cotter said...

And you TOTALLY deserve that R&R, especially after that long run! Whoa. Way to go Jules!

Oh I love this! I hope you're having an incredible weekend! We are definitely trying to get to the point where we don't work so much. It's hard when you own your own business, but we are getting there.

Claire said...

Sounds like a perfect weekend to me! My weekend has been a no rules one too- sleeping in, watching mindless tv, snuggling up with my other half, talking, reading, playing, tickling, laughing- eating yummy food, reading blogs, enjoying leisurely walks around the neighbourhood, cooking... making the most of my last day of freedom before I return to uni tomorrow! I hope you can hold on to the essence of your no rules weekend in day to day life, even if you just set aside 10 minutes to do nothing it can make a difference! All the best xxx

Gina said...

I love those rules :) Sometimes they need to be made to pull ourselves away from the usual crazyness!
Enjoy your weekend!

Hahahah, with the Vegemite again!

I need this to be my new mantra.  Now, how to do that...?

lindsay cotter said...

oh that does sound perfect claire! and yes, I am going to practice this during
week....hopefully.
:) Good idea!

The best part of weekends is that there ARE no rules! We get to hang out, be lazy, sleep in, take our time, workout if we feel like it, and just enjoy the extra time together!

I always have one day off from training and one full on cheat meal! The cheat meal usually includes more than a few cocktails and some delicious food. I love weekends and I enjoy myself. Today I slept in until almost 11:00 AM, which is so unheard of and it felt awesome. Apparently I was tired. HA! Have a wonderful Sunday! xoxo

Great rules, now you better not break them. :)  Have a great weekend!!  Too bad your not in Utah we have an extra day for a state holiday. :)  See how awesome Utah is. he he

Jenny Houlahan said...

YES!! I LOVE the your no rules rules for the weekend and I'm so glad you two have some time off to spend with one another :D

We've had a similarly wonderful weekend without too much structure but totally enjoying the outdoors. Walk with our pup around Newburyport yesterday. Today farmers market shopping plus bike riding along my favorite running routes from this past week  :D it's so nice that my hubs is finally able to relax on weekends because he's out of grad school!

LOVE the workout, I am all for outdoor no equipment sweat sessions :)

Chrysta said...

Best rule ever! It is sso calming and good for the body just to turn everything off and focus on your life and the beautiful people in it. Its a fabulous way to spend the weekend. =)

I think life is stressful enough, so we have to take some time out for ourselves. Once we are well rested and relaxed then we can get back to business fully rejuvenated and ready for action. So I hope you had once super restful, relaxing weekend with the hubs!

I had such a long week teaching summer camp that I was ready for a Saturday of just working out early in the morning and laying around all day...it felt wonderful!  Although we had an engagement celebration dinner and a birthday party for one of our friends so it turned into a very long night.

Did that "vegemite/butter" mean "it might be a vegemite sandwich OR a butter sandwich"? If so, I like how you roll. If not, I like it this way so let's go with it. ;)

Rules are meant to be broken. And no rules = skipping a step. Well done, you! Hope the pool was FAB!
