Moving on now here. Let’s talk tummies. Or the non cutesy term…. ..stomach issues. You all know I’ve had my fair share. You can read about it here. And I know many others have had the same. Whether it be from food allergies, stress, sports induced, etc. It ain’t pretty.
Now since I usually teach/train/run in the morning, I’ve learned a “routine” that works for me. Get up early, coffee, light breakfast, go! You get my point here. But the past couple weeks, my schedule has had to change. I’ve had to meet client to run in the afternoon or even delay my personal training till late afternoon. While many people find this easy, its not so much for me. My stomach is not too fond of it. Which leads to side cramps and acid indigestion mid run. UGH!!
I know what your thinking……just grab some tums or Rolaids. But seriously, I’d rather use whole base nutrition first. So after much research, I actually found a little cure that was right in my pantry!ReNew Life sent me a sample of their Ultimate Chia Life. Of course its just full of good stuff!

okay back to my beloved CHIA, little did I know that this magical seed can also help relieve acid indigestion! Hallelujah!
I know a lot of people use chia in their oats, breads, pudding, etc. I do that too! Remember round two of the fuel cookies?
But today I thought I’d use them in a post lunch drink in order to prevent my little mid run dilemma.
Chia Fresca anyone?
Ingredients:NoMeat Athlete swears buy it! Just see here for his review. And I have to admit, it was very refreshing. Definitely a drink that will help me get through my afternoon workouts/runs!
Stir the chia seeds into the water; let them sit for about five minutes. Stir again, and let sit for as long as you like. The more it sits, the more gel-like the seeds and water become. Add citrus juice and sweetener to taste.
- about 10 oz of water
- 1 Tbsp dry chia seeds
- a few teaspoons lemon or lime juice
- honey or agave nectar, to taste (optional)
