What I Watched Wednesday

Hello. Hope your Wednesday treating you well. I have to be honest here, I am WIPED! Getting up at 3:45am for the past 4 days due to traveling, racing, work, etc. has definitely hit hard today. I know I don’t’ have much room to complain compared to all you amazing mom’s out there. But still, those are some ungodly hours, right? haha.

Well, you know what today is. It’s What I ate Wednesday! Normally, I am ALL OVER THIS! But today, I’m lacking it. My computer decided to hate me for leaving this weekend and left a nasty virus. Such a warm welcome home (enter sarcasm). No no, not complaing. Promise, just stating the facts. Okay thats a stretching it, I know. haha

Anyway, I have no food in my pantry and have yet to find time to go to the store.
Thank goodness for my NUTTZO staple and cereal. haha.

But moving past the food (or lack there of food), I know a lot of you were wondering about the hubs’ race. I kind of left you hanging. I can’t really speak for him, but I can say this……it was a crappy day.

Crappy days come and go. You question a lot, you get frustrated, angry, disappointed, and then you MOVE ON!! No need to rehash all the small things, ya know? The focus is now on recovery before the next race. I know I talk as if I am racing but I am not. He’s the competitive one here. But I am part of the COTTER CREW and I care A LOT about his passion, his pro career, his health, etc.

Even though the day did not go as we had hoped, I was still able to capture moments of hard work, focus, dedication, smiles, and more.

What I Watched Wednesday…..The Race.

When in Rome, right? Enjoy the comforts of Northeastern foods. First time for the hubs to try a cannoli!

I think it made him happy.....for the time being.

We will sometimes fail to be who we want to be but we will get closer to who we are meant to be every time we fall and then choose to take God’s hand so we can get up again!

Now go check out Heather's post to make you feel all warm and fuzzy!

Cheers from the Crew.
;)
p.s.
Friday someone will get free tea! hehe.

I LOVE the quote at the end. It's so true - there are times (many times, it seems) that we fail at something we feel so compelled to accomplish. But God truly has a plan for us - and recognizing that there is a greater plan is such a huge step!

I'm sure that cannoli definitely helped! :)

Oh man, there is no way I could do the 3:45 am wake up call. Especially for 4 days!  Looks like it was an awesome race tho.  I don't think I have ever tried a cannoli!!!

I know, I need to get out more ;)

Heather (Where's the Beach) said...

Sorry the race day didn't go as well as expected. I think a cannoli has to make up for it though! And thank you for the link ;-)

You poor thing go buy yourself some food!  3:45 a.m. is way too early to be waking up and I am sorry you have been so busy.  Vacation to Utah?  Yes please!  It would be a great place for the hubs to train.  :)

You are amazing for staying positive about a bad race.  Hold your head high and remember one of my favorite quotes.  "Success is not finale, failure is not fatal:  it is the courage to continue that counts."

jenncotter said...

That quote is just what I needed to start my morning!  :)  Sorry your husband's race didn't go as well as expected.  It's always hard to watch someone you love have a hard day.  It seems like you both have the right attitude, though.  Just move on, and - eventually - looking back, it will be just a small disappointment leading to larger successes.

WOW that canolli looks amazing.  So I jsut found your blog, which is amazing by the way.  Erin from Until you tri turned me on to it.  Her and I are trying to figure out the evil reply/automated email situation.  I use Disqus too but you don't get automated emails if i reply to your comment :( :(.  Erin said she gets automated ones from you....any chance you could show me your trick?

I'm the race crew of the family as well, and I know what it's like to have a crappy race day. :( I'm sorry, but as you know, every bad race is still a learning experience...even though I know NOT to say that on race day. Always best to wait a few days for that one. ;)

Sorry about the computer virus as well. Thank goodness of Nuttzo and cannolis, huh?

Casey said...

I've never had cannoli...but it doesn't matter...now I'm focused on that Nuttzo. :p How have I not seen this before?!?!

tea-bag said...

thanks for a great post. so often, blogs are bright & sunny (which is good) but it's important to talk about struggles, too.  it lets people know that everyone's human - and gives ways to overcome defeats/setbacks!  awesome - also, great shot of a cannoli!

I love all of the pictures! And am so glad you were able to travel to the competition! I am sorry it did not go the way anyone had hoped but we all have those days and the best part is that there will be another day. And I am sure that there were many lessons to be learned which I ALWAYS love about tough times...if nothing else...I can take a valuable lesson with me :) have a wonderful day!!

Dorry said...

As always, I'm inspired by your ability to see the positive and turn a crappy day into lessons learned and determination to keep pushing forward. James is lucky to have a crew like you! :)

Jen said...

i'm so sorry that the race didn't go as he hoped. i'm always amazed by how different our bodies are day to day. it can be frustrating when things don't go the way you want them to on big race days. it sounds like you guys have a good attitude about it though. here's hoping the next race is exactly the opposite!

Molly Mcnamara said...

Great photos even if it wasn't the best day.  Hope he has a much better day at the next one!!!

Jess said...

Aww you are the best wifey - so supportive and loving. I'd react the same way if something didn't go right for Scott. I know how hard your husband works and trains, it's got to be so frustrating when the race doesn't turn out quite right. I'm glad you are both keeping positive and being as supportive as you can be for one another. That is so important!! Cannoli helps too ;-)

Emily said...

So positive!  Recovery is a physical and mental process, and I think you guys have a pretty awesome grasp of both aspects.  I'm sure next race will be better!

Cannoli soothes the soul.  I know this in my Italian blood :)

I'm so sorry the race didn't go as expected, but I think you have a wonderful attitude to deal with situations like these. Sometimes the way goes two steps forward, one step back, but in the end, you're still moving forward. :)

I've had some challenging situations in my life as well, but for some reason I never doubted that they were all meant to lead to something good in the end. This has to do with faith - that you simply *know* that God has a plan for you, and even the unhappy experiences are part of this plan - often a very important - to challange you to become the best person you can be.

I'm very, very happy that the two of you have each other. The support you can give to each other is amazing, and I believe it's a very rare thing, especially nowadays, that a woman dedicates her life to another person so much. It's a blessing for both of you to have each other, I believe.

lindsay cotter said...

understand it at the moment. Takes a lot of faith. Thanks for the encouraging
