Sweaty Seven

Yesterday there came a surprise. A knock at our door. It was Mr. Fedex. We know him well. He knows that the hubs is sponsored by Kswiss and First Endurance because of all the gear/nutrition they send him. So I didn’t think twice when I saw a Kswiss box in his hand. But this time was different. Mr. Fedex smiled and said, “this one is for you!” Like a kid at Christmas, I jumped with excitement! “Me? Oh Sweeet!”

I quickly tore open the package to see inside.

Two Pairs of Women’s Running Shoes….Size 9.5 (I have clown feet).
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
The new shoe smell alone made me drool. Yes, I am one of those runners. The ones who almost pee in their pants over new gear, especially new shoes.

They were SHINY and NEW!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
(I like to use these for shorter runs and cross training)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
My long run companion. They have 2 types of inserts that you can choose from. The blue inserts are perfect for my high arches.

Why I am so excited for new shoes? I’ll give you a hint…..
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
I promised myself I would stay low key till I got new shoes or until I no longer felt any signs of a strain in my calf. Well yesterday I woke up without any tightness and later that  special “package” arrived at my door.

Coincidence? Maybe….

I like to think it was all in God’s plan.

Here’s to a sweaty seven miles ….shiny and stress free!
tx
Have you had any coincidences lately?

Cheers,
LC

p.s.
HUGE HUGE CONGRATS to our fellow Austinite and friend KELLY WILLIAMSON for taking 2nd Pro Woman at IRONMAN TX yesterday. Kell, you rock!

Molly Mcnamara said...

LOL at clown feet!!!  My feet are size 9 and I'm sure you're quite a bit taller than my 5'0"  :)  Pretty new running shoes always make everything right, glad you enjoyed them right away!!!

Julia said...

I am LOVING those new shoes. Definitely the most perfect coincidence :) I hope you enjoyed your run! My coincidence happened yesterday...I was out running my first ever 20 and didn't have a lot of water so I was super dehydrated and convinced I would not make it the last 3 miles. My dad just happened to text me that last mile and tell me I was almost there. It was just what I needed to get through the rest :)

Julia said...

OH! and ps...do not even stress about your shoe size...I have huge feet as well...11s in running shoes!?! eeek. haha!

Freya said...

aaha what a coincidence indeed!
LOL you have small feet compared to mine - I take an 8.5 in England, which I think is...a 10.5 in the States!?

Your new kicks look AWESOME! K-Swiss is one of the few brands I've never tried! It's all God's plan- I love it when things like that happen and you can really see God working in our lives! ENJOY your pain-free sweaty seven beautiful Lindsay! :D

Cort the Sport said...

I'm in the clown feet category too, size 10.  My coincidence was stopping in our running store to get their input on some brewing tendonitis.  Not only did they say I *don't* need new shoes, which I was prepared to buy (my solution to everything), but they gave me a slew of exercises to do.  THEN the coincidence, another runner who left the area to go to Physical Therapy school came in the store and took a look and offered further advice.  I left with a solid strategy for this and didn't have to drop a cent!  Yay for the supportive running/tri community!!

Heather @ Where's the Beach said...

Woohoo - it was totally meant to be! So glad you had a great, pain free run. Love getting new running shoes. Makes me want to put them on and take off right then and there.

Fate!! :) That's awesome! I love getting new shoes even though I'm not a runner haha -- they make a huge difference in lifting and cross-training (incline walking, cycling).

i love new shoes but i'm always afraid of dropping the $ on a pair i haven't tried out before.  i'm the dork that does a TON of online research to find the best pair.  i've pretty much stuck with the same asics for awhile now & they seem to work great.  i figure if it ain't broke ...
congrats on your good run, though!  it must feel awesome to be able to get out there on the road w/out having to worry so much about your calf!

lindsay cotter said...

oh you are not a dork! I do that too! you must treat your feet well, ya know?
Kswiss has done wonders since having a foot injury back in 2006. So I call these
my golden shoes. hehe!

Totally had a coincidence today....we had a team meeting for the group doing our Oxfam 100km trailhike and a woman heading up our support crew emailed to say her neice was in town...... doesnt seem like much but the niece did the trailwalk here last year and in England two years ago.  And as we both know having someone who has been there done that for a 100km event is a blessing!  That she was in town for our first team meeting was a blessed coincidence!!

New shoes?! How FUN! I love it...I definitely need some new ones myself - it's been far too long and I'm not too good at putting my health before our finances for some odd reason...That should be next on my "to-do" list! I'd love to hear why you love KSWISS shoes, and if there are any models that fit well with a wide toe box (to make way for my grandma-like bunions!) and if they also have any minimalist shoes - just if you get the chance! I'm itching to try a new brand for a change rather than hand-me-downs like my last 3 pairs. Enjoy the shoes, and here's to pain-free runs!
