So Simple

This weekend was someone’s birthday. Who’s? Well I am not suppose to really talk about it, but I think it’s safe to say……THAT AIN’T GONNA HAPPEN!

I married a simple man, scratch that…..I married the simplest man. I think God really created him just to compliment me and my complexity, haha. But really, he’s a man who is easy going,  patient, kind, hard working, determined, and just plain GENUINE! So when I asked the hubs what he wanted for his birthday, I knew it be something low key and simple.

What a simple man wants for his birthday…..good beer, good food, and time together.
Um ya, I think I can make that happen!

Good Beer…well obviously he goes for the GUINNESS!
IMG00442-20110422-1757[1]untitled
Good Food….favorite treats and eats.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERADSCF0555WP_000122[1]
Time Together…..exploring trails outside the city then exploring bike shops downtown.

So, whatcha think…….Simple Enough?

Are you a simple birthday person?

Cheers,
LC (The Complex Wife)

Awww! I love you guys!! Such a great way to spend a birthday! Scott's is coming up and it's always done surrounded by family on Memorial Day weekend at our house. It's become such a tradition - and I love every minute of it because he is beaming with pride the entire day. It's the cutest. Happy birthday to your hubs!!

That looks like the perfect birthday to me! I love low key birthdays -- to just spend the day with Jason, have some good food and a beer or two :)

Lindsay I loved reading about how you describe your husband -- that was so sweet. It is nice to see/read about people in love!

Ooooh it was my birthday this weekend too (well, Friday) - all I really wanted was a good hard workout and a win for my hockey team but the extra things that came from friends/family were nice too :)

awwww! what an awesome birthday. sounds so relaxing to just be together enjoying some of his simple favorite things. I get really excited about birthdays and holidays so maybe that makes me a complex person...but honestly as long as there is cake and at least one thing to open...I am happy just being with my family enjoying their company and one of my favorite homemade meals (usually my mom's pizza!)

Stephanie@MyThornsHaveRoses said...

My birthday is the last of 6 other immediate family birthdays in May so I think over the years I've gotten really accustomed to the simplest one of all at the end. :)

Vanessa @ Gourmet Runner said...

This is the perfect birthday! Hubs is the same way. This year for his birthday we ate his favorite--sushi--and saw a daytime movie, which we never do. Then a nice afternoon workout and he was set. So simple!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAMES!!! Sounds like PERFECTION TO ME!! You two really are a movie star couple...gorgeous. I think I am the opposite of simple for bdays. Poor Billy would love a simple bday but I always end up throwing a surprise party or making it a whole week of partying:) I have a problem!

Heather @ Dietitian on the Run said...

Definitely our kind of day, too!! I'd say I'm a 'simple' birthday person - I like to celebrate in some way, but never usually mind what that consists of :) D is the an in-betweener, too. Nothing crazy, but a celebration of sorts!

Happy birthday, James!

Happy Birthday to the Hubs!

Simple Birthdays R Me :-) This year's was spent in yoga teacher training with no festivities, just lots of learning and notes. The others have been so low key it's great.

For me, birthdays are about being thankful to my Mom for giving me life (and Dad, too), God for the blessings, and time to reflect on all that I have with humility and joy for what is to come in a peaceful kind of way.

I always (if possible) make time for a trail run or hike, because I enjoy it.

Peace.

...and another companionship-driven post! Aww I love that so many people have found their 'other half', if you like. I've read your blog in the past and have just- gladfully- revisited it! I'm having an 'ohmigosh, I'll never find aaaanyone to put up with me' moment... Seeing your post kinda makes it a bit worse (very aware of a huge void!) but oddly, it also adds a reassurance that if you can find somebody, then it's another example that there IS someone out there. Somewhere... Take a peek? You're uber busy but I kinda need some PMA on this one!!!

yes I'd say I am a simple birthday person. I had 2 realy parties: when I turned 30 and then 10 yrs later. My birthday is January 11, real great timing for a birthday everyone is tired from the Holidays and I am usually one of them. I only want one thing: that my boys dont argue on my bday and mothers day!!!

Sounds like you planned the perfect birthday for him! I'm definitely more of a simple birthday person. I'd rather spend it with family or close friends and have dinner instead of a large party. Last year, I went to my cousin's wedding on my birthday, and it was awesome to celebrate both events!

Happy Birthday James!!

I am BIG on birthdays in that I spoil my loved ones all birthday MONTH. I used to be the one who loved big birthday celebrations - for me and everyone else - and I had some great ones! these days I am much simpler, preferring time with Jason, and separate time with J and my family, close friends. no big party needed :)

you and James sound a lot like how I describe Jason and I - I told you the other day Jason is "my soother"... my big spastic personality and Jason's amazingly calm, cool and thoughtful nature go well together. I feel like we were made for each other. <3

Happy belated birthday to James!! Low key truly is best...My fondest birthday memories involve simple things: eating cake and laughing till my stomach hurt, hitting a pinata with a bat, and drinking a really good cup of espresso with my grandma. Going "all out" can be fun at times, but savoring the simple moments--doing those everyday things that you really love--makes for a pretty special day. :-)

Erin @ Until You Tri said...

Oh man, sorry I'm late to the party! Happy birthday, James!!!! You guys are the cutest couple!!! I love that you think he complements you, Lindsay. I think the same thing about my husband, and I love it! I may not be a simple person, but I am a simple birthday girl. The husband and I are usually really low-key for birthdays (although next year is his 30th...shhh, I didn't say that, so I will probably plan something a little more exciting for that one;). But we usually just do a nice dinner or a fun activity (we usually don't even do presents, since our birthdays are both kind of close to Christmas. One year we took a cooking class for his birthday--it was a lot of fun!

PS, I love kookaburra licorice!! It's soooo good!:)

lindsay cotter said...

really?! My husband will 30 next year too! I'll be 29. I like getting older, he
does not. We need a join bday party for these guys. A very simple party. haha.

Erin @ Until You Tri said...

Haha, that's too funny! My husband didn't mind getting older until this year, I think. I don't think he's looking forward to the 30 mark. I'll be 28 next year...I don't know if I liked turning 27, seemed like I was moving into the "late" 20s, hehe. Plus, getting older doesn't help with the "grandchildren" pressure from the in-laws...ahhhh!;)
