A day of W’s with WIAW

You know its Wednesday when all you actually care about how pretty your food looks! haha. Okay okay, so it is kinda fun to take pictures of meals now. I actually enjoy the whole lighting, set up, etc. WHO AM I?? Oh that’s right, I am my Father’s Daughter and he is obsessed with photography as well. Except, he takes pictures of beautiful scenery while I just go straight for the food and flowers.

Anyway, today is full of W’s. Lets see, we have WIAW, WIWW, and of course the two big WINNERS of the Timex giveaway. No need to chit chat, lets get this party started.

untitled
Breakfast was quick unfortunately. I downed AMAZING greens and LOVE granola.

Snacks of course were feelin’ fresh…..yes, recipe to come soon (this week!).
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Lunch was another hodge podge mash. Veggies, Egg, Deer Sausage (my dad brought it down for us), and some gluten free toast and cherry jam.
It was more like BRUNCH and I LOVE that!
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
I might have sampled my new HEALTHY BITE- this is going to be May’s Flavor.
Sorry, it’s a secret recipe.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Feeling good with a little TRILOGY!
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Dinner was AT THE TABLE!! No distractions!
Burundi Fish with nice mango hot sauce, turmeric sweet potato chips, and salad.

Alright, enough food talk. Lets show some WIWW Love!

What I Worked Wednesday

Hills and Thrills
  • Jog to a small hill around your gym or house. Hill should take about 1 minute to run up.
  • Do 2 hill repeats forward (jog down), 2 backwards (jog down), 2 side shuffling up (jog down), 2 walking lunges (jog down), and 2 side to side skips- think about leaping onto each foot here.
  • Jog back to a flat surface, gym, or home.
  • Go through this circuit 5x.
  • DONE AND DONE!
I did this with my class the other day, all outside in 80F weather with 100% humidity. Lets just say we were all pretty fried at the end. ha!
-----------------------------------------------------------------

And last but not least of the W’s…..WINNERS!
The hubs and I both randomly selected a number from the comments.

White Watch goes to Phil Baltazar who said..
I'd love to be able to give the WHITE one to my wife for her birthday next month. I've been an avid runner for some time and have decided to train for my first triathlon next year as I'm turning 40 and thought that would be my way to celebrate the gift of health. My wife recently asked me to help her train for her first 5k and would be equally grateful to have this training tool. I thank God not only today but everyday she is in my life along with our beautiful 2 yr. old twin boys. Being physically able to train is a gift and we appreciate it daily.

Pink Watch goes to Melissa S who said..
This Easter, I am far away from my friends and family for the first time in years. But yet I am extremely thankful to be ALIVE at this time of year. Religiously the holiday is all about rebirth, but this time of year reminds me of my dearest friend Jill Costello who didn't make it to see Easter this year. She passed away last summer from Stage IV lung cancer, at age 22, and she never smoked and was a D1 NCAA athlete. She was the most amazing person I ever met, and while I miss her every day, it's the holidays like Easter that remind me just how LUCKY I am to be there, and that I should enjoy every second of it, not only simply because I CAN but because she couldn't.

You two will be getting an email from me soon!

Phew, that was a long post. I’m tired.

Cheers to the W’s!
LC

Congrats to the winners!

Venison sausage! Though born a veggie, my sis was born meaty and made her future hub sample venison sausage before deciding to marry him. One of dad's former co-workers would bring his kills to the shop, and the summer bar-be-ques were legendary. Happy tummy, happy dad!

Yum, I haven't heard of that fish before! May need to try it...hard to find? I love the brunch idea too. I always find a good breakfast like that so satisfying. Will have to try it!

katieemm said...

Yum! Your meals look so colorful and yummy! The mango fish sounds good. :)

Hey, I know I've talked to you about the Paleo thing...but, I was wondering if you've ever tried it? I am doing it for 30 days to see if it improves my digestion. After that, I will go from there and see if I need to make changes or stick to it. But, I was wondering what works for you in terms of your diet and food? I know you eat grains and you still can "go", right? I've heard that oats are a food that bind in the intestines, so they can be hard to eliminate. I know all bodies are different, but I am trying to get a grip on all of this so that I can do some trial and error after the month of May and my paleo adventure.

Emily said...

Ooh, Trilogy is my favorite! And I love the workout. I did a hill workout yesterday, and it just happened to be the windiest day ever, with the headwind on the uphill, so it felt doubly hard. But so good when I finished!

lindsay cotter said...

we mainly eat primal, except for breakfast. But thats because we do more
endurance work. Oat bran is a little better to digest than oats. I think YOu'll
like it. Paleo is a little more strict that primal. HEre, check  out marks daily
apple. We love him!

Let me know if that helps!

That's a phenomenal looking fish! And I know this relates to one of your past posts, but in all honesty, I find it better to be eating when I look at tempting food pics because instead of obsessing, I just take another bite of my own dinner. :D This salad was ALMOST as good as that fish, I bet. *Almost*...

I hate running hills but I love climbing hills in spin :) I can NOT do a pull-up to save my life...need to start working on my strength! I'm looking forward to the recipe!! The week is halfway over...yay!

Just gotta say, I love deer meat.

I've barely been able to get outside recently because of all the rain we've been getting. Madness! My running has been suffering, and I feel like I'm just getting lazy and out of shape! If I tried to do any hills right now I'd probably just slide right back down. Maybe I should try? It might be fun...

lindsay cotter said...

me too! it was good! I think you should go run in the rain or try the hills
sprints on the treadmill. I do that all the time. Its a killer workout. I'm sure
your in better shape than you think.
:)

Yay!!! Thank thank you!!!! I love Phil's comment too Im so happy for him! But now I have a question for you : how did you make the mango hot sauce? Or where can I find it?
The workout looks awesome :) How many pullups can you do? I love when girls post pullup workouts. They are by far my favourite exercise, besides burpess, and make me feel so empowered!

Michelle @ The Cooking Life said...

Ohmygoodness your dinner looks AMAZING! What I ate today that was worth mentioning was a salad - mixed greens, shredded rotisserie chicken, craisins, sliced apples and gorgonzola cheese with raspberry vinaigrette. And workout? 5 mile training run done in 50:59!

Salah said...

wow....that dinner looks wonderful! Well, so does that brunch and those healthy bites!! :-) btw....tonight I made sure to take time to sit down with a friend for dinner and talk about life and God and just joke and enjoy one anothers company and I will say that it TOTALLY helped me destress! So glad you made that challenge on your last post!

chuck feerick said...

Wow that fish looks awesome! I had great wild salmon tonight but I had to cook it on the Foreman so it was pretty dry... lol

Sara @ Nourish and Flourish said...

Your Healthy Bites look like a fun, delicious snack! Pretty please post the recipes soon soon?!

I'm loving the workouts you post. Do you make them up as you go, or do you typically write them down before starting? It's time for me to switch things up over here, but I'm a creature of habit, so jumping off the treadmill and cross-trainer is going to require a little leap of faith!

lindsay cotter said...

thats the bad thing about the foreman for fish, its drains the good juices
and natural fat. But for meat, its perfect!! Get those antioxidants in before
wildflower!!
;)

Even though I know it's almost been over a year since she passed away, I'm sure that they still struggle every single day. I'm SO glad that Melissa S. won that watch!
