Spring Cleaning with WIAW

Oh you know what day it is, right? It’s Wednesday!! More importantly,  it’s WHAT I ATE WEDNESDAY sponsored by the lovely Jen at Peas and Crayons.
untitled
I am so glad she does this because it really challenges me to get out of my comfort zone with picture taking and meals. Good spring cleaning of the mind there. This WIAW also allows me to focus on those nourishing and gut cleansing foods. Lets take a look, shall we?

Here are just a few good gut eats from today.

Organic Pinto beans with tamari and wasabi hummus on a Gluten Free Udi’ bagel

My first love, I mean second love. Sorry hubs.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Had to make some Healthy Bites for April’s Flavor of the Month. It’s a new flavor and I’ll put it up on Facebook in a few weeks. It’s definitely DELICIOUS!! Took a few for myself.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
And now lets round it all out with some more veggies, avocado sweet potato, and spicy tempeh and pinto bean mash with brewers yeast. All good superfoods!
Can you tell I was trying to get rid of some beans today? hehe. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

okay okay, enough food talk. What about Spring Cleaning for the Body via SWEAT!? Did you know that sweat actually cleanses the skin? Check out this article for the facts.

Why not sweat with this workout today. A good cleanse for the skin and muscles.

WHAT I WORKED WEDNESDAY (WIWW)

It’s interval day. I call this 5 by 5’s!

warm up with cardio 5 to 10 minutes
  • hill repeats on a short hill. You can do this on the treadmill, bike, or elliptical. Make the hill last 45 seconds to 1 minute.
    • 5 forward hill repeats, 5 backwards
  • 5 single leg hops forward/backward with the right leg, followed but 5 single leg burpees. (Repeat set 5 times on each leg).
  • 5 pushup with a core twist then 5 mountain climbers (repeat 5x)
  • 5 side kicks with weights on shoulder (5 on each leg) followed by 5 power squat jumps (repeat 5 x)
  • 5 pike press pushups followed by 5 tucks or pikes on stability ball (repeat 5x)'
  • 5 side burpees (alternating sides) followed by 5 side plank raises (repeat 5x).
Cool down! No more 5’s!!

Anybody Spring “Cleanse” with food and sweat today? I hope so!

Cheers,
LC
p.s.
Need some encouragement about why you do what you do? You gotta read THIS POST then. It’s a good one!

Oh, I wish we lived next door more than ever. We could workout together and eat together! Thanks for linking to my post, dear friend. You inspire me everyday! Billy and I are going on a run together when he gets home. Our new place is RIGHT by the Katy Trail...like less than 100 yards - yippppeee!

Kristina @ spabettie said...

I'm eating good gut brownies today!! :) I only ran (treadmill) today, because I am sore from weights yesterday, and I had little time, therefore treadmill @ home... but it was a good one! I am back home now and eating quinoa + red peppers. SO good. that whole plate you had sure looks fab. I don't eat enough sweet potato!

Jess said...

Just reading that 5x5 list made me sweat a little. Could be the fever talking though. HAHA. I can't wait until I am feeling better so I can get my sweat on for REAL. Soooo miss that high. So much. And ps. now I'm actually craving something - a sweet potato with avocado, what a great concoction!

Sable@SquatLikeALady said...

I am doing a MAYJAH cleanse of my eating habits that I hope to make permanent! :-) (This morning's blog post was all about it so I won't rehash all the deets here lol)

I love using sweat to cleanse my skin!! Working out is the only thing that helps clear up my keratosis pilaris (I get it on my arms).

Beautiful food pics!!!!

Stephanie@ThornsHaveRoses said...

My brain is sweating from working so hard today. Does that count? :) No workout today and haven't put much thought into my eats today (leftovers!!). Wish I could have!!! Looks like you did enough for the two of us though, right? ;) Have a great night Lindsay!

AND THAT SWEET POTATO LOOKS SO AMAZIN'! My mouth is WATERING! :O

sure did have lots of spring cleanse foods! Cinnamon oats for breakfast, lunch was an almond butter sandwhich, and supper was spinach salad and sweet potato with tumeric and sea salt! Sweating was less exciting just an "easy" recovery for a couple hours and played in a waterfall for an ice bath! Spring cleanse is fun!

Delicious Eats! (As always)
I "Spring Cleansed" my body with a fun jump rope workout. I did a bunch of different intervals, with different speeds and skipping moves. I forgot how much fun it is to skip, and it's such a great form of cardio.

Why do I do what I do?
Well, I love to cook/bake and I guess I do it and am passionate about it because that's
how I was raised. I spent the majority of my time in the kitchen helping my mother, so
cooking is just second nature to me. My mother passed on her love of food to me
and I am very thankful for that.

Mmmmm, your eats look wonderful - as always! :D Yay for the workout! I'm feeling very sluggish these days which I think has to do with the sea climate in northern Germany because I always have it during the first week at least when I come here. When I'm back in Heidelberg it'll get better again, and then I'll try to get into my little running program again which is on ice at the moment because every movement seems exhausting right now. Well, not the right time. But the right time or relaxing definitely. :) And focusing on good food. :)

Your food looks delish! :D Isn't it fun to fuel your body well? I feel so much better when I do, and I love getting ideas from others' photos/recipes! I've enjoyed some really healthy and good eats today, but no exercise - it's so vital for my day to function well, but being "on tour" makes it hard to find time and ways to exercise. Grateful for any movement I can get! Until life gets a little slower, I'll be continuing to watch what I eat and enjoy it all without scarfing down food on the run and try to stay balanced that way. Thanks for the good eats - and I LOVE side burpees! Definitely a workout I can do on the road; thanks for sharing!
