What’s In that WIAW???

Not gonna lie, I eat weird combos. I crave weird combos. I am NOT a creature of habit. To make the same thing everyday would kill me. I don’t think I ever really repeat recipes unless its for someone else. I wonder what all this means? Well I won’t worry about it cause my hubs is the same way, unless it has to do with marmite. Then he’s a creature of habit. Maramite and butter, Vegemite and butter, etc.! If there were a Marmite flavored butter, I could really kill two birds with one stone here. haha!

vegemite
Anyway, my post today is full of combos. Normal combos for me, but probably weird combos to you. And I’m okay with that. I won’t tell you what's in it. You’ll just have to guess. K?

Any guesses on the combos? What's your weirdest combo?
I bet I'd like it.
I once ordered a bacon latte from this place. Darn tasty!
Thanks Jen for another great WIAW and good luck on the packing!
Cheers!

'Weird' combos are totally okay! Not okay? Combos, you know, those creepy stuffed pretzel/cracker things.

For breakfast today, I ate what I'm calling an "Orange Creamsicle Pancake" with peanut butter & berry syrup.

lindsay cotter said...

oh I am all over that orange creamsicle pancake with PB! Come make me breakfast in the morning. would ya?

;)

oh, and also!! I was SO very happy today! all the photos I took when you guys were in town, I FINALLY rescued them from a weird memory card thing. well, Jason did. anyway, I just got to see them all today - there's one of Basil and James, SO cute! :)

Katie said...

Pinot noir isn't a weird combo, no matter what you combo it with.  :)

Did you grill snow peas?!?  I have some snow peas and I have a grill....

Weird combo is my middle name.  I put ranch and ketchup on my salad today.  Which also had cukes, mushrooms, sauerkraut, and grilled green beans and eggplant.  Oh, and horseradish.  And boy was it GOOD.

Holly said...

Ok I don't see anything weird here, it all looks good! Although I want to know what that toast/pizza/type thing is. Looks delicious!

lindsay cotter said...

i once had a PB sandwich with a pinot noir. Not bad. haha. And I grilled snow peas and peppers with snapper and mashed fries. haha. AWESOME!

Weird is good right? It's really just unique ;-) I can't think of any really weird combos off hand. When I was a kid I loved cheetos with the outer layer of those little debbie snack rolls. Anything I used to think was weird, I sure don't any longer.

Allie said...

Everything looks great! I still have yet to try vegemite.... :)

Looks like some great food :)

Growing up I always ate pickles and then a fudgesicle in the summer or vice versa.  Never together.  My neighbors always asked if I was pregnant- even when I was 12 and eating it.  Gotta love 'em.

Ironically my parents once sent me chocolate-covered pickles from the Heinz plant or museum.  They are N-A-S-T-Y!  But when Mom and Dad send you a souvenir from home, you at least try it. :-)

Other weird combo?  The ONLY way I could eat scrambled eggs as a kid was to drown them in clear Karo syrup (now I just don't eat 'em).  Is peanutbutter on taco shells weird?

I dunno... I think I've simplified my tastebuds... maturity, whatever?  Just easier on the digestive track! :-)  Smarter, too! :-)

Wendy said...

Follow up, growing up in MS we used to put French dressing on the greasiest pizza we could find (Pizza Inn).  In Pittsburgh, some call it weird, some call it normal, most just call it Primanti's :-)  (as in sandwiches with fries and coleslaw in them).

Jess said...

Oooh, can't wait to hear what these combos are! look good for sure :D

Courtney said...

Such color food and photos!
Oh, I'm all about weird combos....cottage cheese and pickles, anyone?! :)

Courtney said...

Oops... *colorful! :)

Vanessa @ Gourmet Runner said...

I like some weird combos too, but I am SUCH a creature of habit! If I like something, I'll just repeat the meal time and time again!

SquatLikeALady said...

Those hard boiled eggs look like they were perfectly done!! :) of course if you're the one who made them I guess that's no surprise ;-) We just got down here to FL where we had you send the healthy bites...they had one left -- oh my goodness. SO tasty!

Kristi @ Sweet Cheeks said...

I totally love weird food combos. That is actually one of the things i have worried a bit about with living in the dorms this Fall. I'm scared i will scare people off!

Teabag said...

my weirdest combo?  you might vomit.  cold oats, greek yogurt, vanilla, & a can of tuna.  it was like fishy, sweet, rice pudding.  and it was breakfast one day.  :)
i was in heaven.

lindsay cotter said...

hey, I am all about trying it once! I made tuna protein bread before. It was good! sweet and tangy. I think I posted it too! Pair it with PB!

At work I've kind of become known for my food weirdness... especially when it comes to ketchup. But I don't understand why people think it's so weird to put ketchup on a baked potato. The weird looks from putting it on broccoli and cauliflower I can understand... but what's so weird about a potato? People put it on fried potatoes and the taste/consistency of the two isn't much different...

Michelle @ The Cooking Life said...

I love that you eat combos!! My weirdest combo has to be toasting bread and dipping pieces of it in hot cocoa. That or eating eggs, bacon and fried rice for breakfast :)

YUM, Lindsay! Everything looks so yummy! I don't consider any of your combos weird at all -- I would happily everything here! :) Lately I've been eating avocado and daiya cheese on my sweet potato with salt and pepper. And cayenne pepper is a must for my guac lately, too. Not super weird, just delish! :)

I'm going to take a stab at this! First set of pictures: cottage cheese, fig, cinnamon and possibly some sort of grain underneath. Second set: egg, tomato-rice mixture and...ham? Third set: GF French bread with cheese (what's underneath is a mystery!) Fourth set: roasted veggies, tomatoes, carrots, snow peas...?? Am I close? Even if I'm completely off, this was too much fun! :-)

As for weird combos... when I was a kid I used to like to mix my mashed potatoes & brown gravy and macaroni & cheese together and top it with tons of ketchup. I haven't had it since I was like 10, but I'm not gonna lie - I'd probably still like it today. ;)
