More than one Wish…….

Okay okay, so I know its Thursday, but I promise I wrote this yesterday. Just forgot to take it off draft and hit post. Hmmm, can we say short term memory loss? LOL!

Anyway, This version of WIAW has a few special wishes. First of all, BIG SHOUT OUT to Jen from PEAS and CRAYONS (ya know, the one who puts on WIAW). It was her birthday yesterday so go give her some lovin’ and WISH her a Happy Birthday!

Peas and Crayons

My second special wish is for you to check out Kath’s Solidarity to Japan post. She’s devoting her next few blog posts to Japan in. She encouraged us to join in! Her first post was a dedication to a Japanese dish. She recreated a delicious Japanese Style Stir fry so be sure to go take a look.

I really loved this idea and thought it would be great to make for WIAW! A special way to “express our solidarity with Japan.”

I tried to make it fun and tasty while incorporating some Japanese flare!

Nori Seaweed Wrapped Salmon & Wakame Noodles

How to make the salmon:

  • Thaw out your salmon fillet. Coat with coconut butter and braggs amino acids or GF soy sauce.
  • Take one Nori Seaweed Wrap Paper and carefully wrap it around your salmon. Fold it at the ends. Add a little coconut butter or oil to end so it sticks.
  • Bake at 400F for 12-16 minutes. Depends on the thickness of your salmon. 10 minutes per inch of thickness.
  • Serve with GF Wakame Noodles and diced carrots.
Pretty Easy , eh? Need more ideas? Try out homemade sushi. Its fun and easy!

The hubs can make a pretty mean sushi roll!
    the cute chef
My third wish (I get three, right?) would be for you to take time out of your day and pray for Japan. It’s not hard, just a little prayer. They could use a lot right now. Thank you friends!

Alos, here are some more links that are helping out Japan:
  1. http://www.justhungry.com/japan-earthquake-how-help (thanks to Kath for sharing this)
  2. Angela from OhSheGlows is raffling off her GLOW BARS and a portion is going to Japan relief.
  3. MunchieMusings is having a charitable online bake sale in order to raise money/donations towards the Japan relief.
Do you have a wish to share? I wanna here it! What about a Japanese recipe? If so, leave your link with the recipe.
Again, thank you for listening to all my wishes!

Cheers,
LC

p.s.
No WIWW (what I worked Wednesday) this week but don’t worry, it will be back!)

I love your box with the chopsticks. I have lots of them (even ones my dad painted for us as kids) but no box or set like that. Very cool. It's so crushing to see such destruction and loss of life. Definitely makes you appreciate all that you have. My wish would be that people remember to appreciate what they have each and every day.

I love all the efforts going to help Japan during this time. My friends stationed out there are helping with the relief by helping clean. It's so sad to see their pictures on FB. Though first and foremost I'm glad they are ok. I'm probably going to donate to ARC, since I have the funds right now.

jessiepants said...

So random, but we have the EXACT same chopsticks set...small world : ) I love to make green tea salmon. Basically you just cook the salmon, cook rice, steep green tea and soak wakame flakes. Put rice in a bowl with salmon and wakame on top and then pour green tea over. Garnish with wasabi and shoyu (for you GFer's - tamari)... easy and delish. Thanks for the links to help Japan!

What a great community we have, full of creative people putting their minds to good use.

SO heartbreaking about Japan. It's hitting home in a way, my parents' business' is the American sector of a Japanese company. In a strange twist of fate, all of the Japanese guys were here in the states when everything happened. Makes me just shudder, you know?

Thanks for the links. While I hate when natural disasters occur, I am always encouraged by the outpouring of love and support that results.

Lindsey, I don't mean to be a troll, but I read this article about NOT donating to Japan: http://blogs.reuters.com/felix-salmon/2011/03/14/dont-donate-money-to-japan/

I don't know what to think!!! So conflicting. :-(

Chuck said...

Nice post Lindsay- God bless all those in Japan.

That salmon looks great too! I need to grill salmon this weekend... its been so long!

lindsay cotter said...

wow, definitely an interesting read. You're not a troll, thank you for sharing
this. I wanted to emphasis here the power of prayer or even a "solidarity" for
japan, hence Kath posts about making a Japanese dish. The donating is totally up
to that person, whether it helps Japan or not only God will know. I don't like
that our society has made us question whether or not we need to give to those in
distress, kinda sad. But I guess thats the world we live in.
If anything, I hope anyone thats reads this blog posts can know and FEEL the
power of prayer. Thank you sophia.
Cheers,
