Eat. Play. Blog.

Hello form frigid Texas once again. I wanted to start off by thanking you all SO VERY much for the comments in my last post. They were honest, heart felt, and just LOVELY! I will be looking back at those comments weekly for sure. Such encouragement!

Okay okay, mushy love is over. Let’s talk Wednesday. So I’ve been dying to participate in Jen’s What I Ate Wednesday, but have to yet to find time to photograph all my food. HUGE PROPS to all of you who do it daily! I try to set it up all nice and pretty but I end up taking bites and messing it up, ha! I’m all about recipe photos but I am so impatient with my regular meals. Anyway, Jen so kindly have me the go ahead to “tweak” whatever I needed to make it work. That being said, I decided to do a What I Worked (out) Wednesday and the Best thing I ate Wednesday! Just roll with it, k?

untitled

Best thing I ate Nutritionally……..

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA You better believe it! give me Greens! Pomegranate Mango Amazing Grass Meal with banana, coconut juice, and Vanilla Hemp Milk.

Best thing I ate that I savored……………..
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Homemade Gluten Free Cinnamon Raisin PB Bread Pudding. I will be posting this recipe ASAP).

Best thing I ate that’s LOCALLY made or farmed…………………
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Gotta love Texas Tamales!Handmade Black Bean Tamales, spinach salad (locally grown) , cauliflower/potato mash.

Now for the fun part.

What I worked today……..the DREADMILL!

Hills and thrills:

- Warm up 1 mile  0.5% incline
Main Set: (keep speed at half marathon to 10k pace the whole time )
- 1 minute 0.5%, 1 minute 1%, 1 minute 0.5%, 1 minute 1.5%, 1 minute 0.5%, do this pattern until you get to 3.5% or 4%. Recovery 2 minutes at 0.5% at the end of the full set.
- Repeat 3-4x
- Cool down 5-10 minutes at 0% or 0.5% then get your butt of the treadmill and stretch for 10 minutes!
Beautiful! Done and Done!

Now its time for a little Modern Family and maybe a glass of this.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA I’d say that’s a pretty good Wednesday, eh?

So, share one. What’d ya eat? What’d ya work?

Cheers,
LC

anytime a blogger mentions working out or running... it piles up in the back of my mind and pushes me to continue running and cycling.... so seriously - just keep dropping the W-bomb mmk?

the amazing grass smoothie looks great! I can't wait to finally try the stuff! I hope it's as addicting and yummy as my kombucha obsession! I try to limit myself to 4-6 oz a day so I'm not broke but oh man! today I want the WHOLE BOTTLE! <3

Hope you had a good one! xoxo

How do you like the DISQus comment box btw? I have been toying with the idea of it for months! spill it girl! <3

hills tonight for me. I ate like crap, fell off the wagon and one big hypocrite...a big fat burger from Burgerville...all I can think of is that i'm pregnant and don't know it with cravings like these. Ha! Gosh I hope not! Love this post and can't wait for Modern Fam! xo

Mmm I am so excited for that bread pudding recipe!! Yum!

And I think you forgot one important show.. The Middle!! LOL

I just discovered coconut milk and wow I had no idea how good it is for our bodies! I have tried 3 different gluten free pastas.. YUK! So lately I've caved and eaten regular pasta because it's what hubs eats and I get lazy.. sigh

Oh, I'm drooling over your foods! Isn't it amazing how much good nutrition does for you? Im still surprised how good I feel after having a green drink! :D

My grandmom used to make bread pudding, but unfortunately hers is stuffed with gluten and deep fried, so not my cup of tea. Yours looks amazing and fluffy!

And I see you have a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand there ... Mmmmmmmmmmmmm!!! Unhappily, Sav Blanc isn't what you get so easily in Germany ... It's all about Riesling and Pinot Grigio here, and Sav Blanc tends to be quite expensive. (You *can* get it, but you have to pay for it, and since I live on a student's budget, it's a rare treat.) I've recently discovered a good Sav Blanc from South Africa, that's something at least!

Nice Wednesday! I love how you made it work! I stayed off the dreadmill and did free weights and abs with my friend!

Best thing I ate was my homemade granola this morning. I attempted to run 5 miles but someone stole my treadmill when I had to take a bathroom break so I think I only got about 4.5 miles in. Urgh. The guys monopolize my condo's gym.

OMG. I miss Texas so much. The best thing I ate today... I think has yet to come. I have Butterscotch Pecan Squares in the oven. My workout was ridiculous, and I might just lay in bed all day tomorrow and eat all of the Squares. I'm not kidding. Essentially, I did 45 seconds on, 15 off - but started at 9.0 at 4% incline, then I lowered the incline by .5% every minute. Once I got to 0, I started over, but this next go-round I would lower the speed .5. I about lost my lunch. Crazy how LONG 45 seconds can be when you're begging for them to be over. Felt great though! Have a great Wednesday!!! ENJOY that wine!!!

Your pictures look amazing!!!! I'm looking forward to the bread pudding recipe! Yum!! Oh and I also love Modern Family, such a GREAT show!! :)

Nicely done on the treadmill workout!! So you like that wine? I had it once at a wine tasting we did and there was just some flavor I didn't like at all. Maybe just a bad year???

Dorry said...

yummy eats! that GF bread pudding looks amazing. I agree - I almost always eat my food before I remember to take a picture. :) I ran 3 miles on the treadmill - was supposed to be 5, but feeling under the weather...the 18 degree weather! Boo. I made a really good quinoa & black bean dish for dinner with a big spinach and avocado salad on the side. Now I need a little something sweet.

Lisakthrives said...

Mmmmmm. I need the texas tamales for sure :)
I need to get my amazing grass back out...i don't know why I've been neglecting it!
Today i ate lots of green stuff, and I took it easy at the gym with a light circuit and some haphazard elliptical. It was nice to just be moderate for a day...I need to do that more often!

Jess said...

Love this post! Such a happy fun post...must be that DELISH looking bread pudding that's making you so chipper, huh? ;-)
To answer your qs - today was a rest day (much needed) so no workout here. BUT what I ate? Some fab sushi with my husband on the way home from work tonite. Yummy.

I just ate a Cherry Pie Larabar and now I'm eating an apple. Random and simple but delicious nonetheless.

As for what I worked - a 4 mile run this morning. It was chilly out and I was tired but I'm so glad I got myself outside and running! I felt so amazing after. :)

Rebecca Lustig said...

I drank a beer! totally out of my character but sooo refreshing!

Missy Miller said...

I love Monkey Bay.
I worked NOTHING..
But my favorite thing I ate today? Hmm...It was a random day...I'm going for steamed celery, pink lady apple, mixed up with a sweet mustard-apple cider vinegraite. Yeah....I'm a freakish eater sometimes.

Heather said...

I had some yogurt and granola for dinner (had to eat dinner at school) and some carrots for a snack. My favorite meal today was my brown rice bowl with avocado for breakfast.

Bre said...

I didn't really eat anything special- oatmeal & peanut butter, coffee, lots of fresh fruit, spinach, carrots and sweet potato...hmm that's all pretty boring!
Workouts were pretty easy today- got a cough/cold/sinus sickness...so this morning was a 6km swim and this afternoon was a 2hr trainer ride.

purplebirdblog said...

I ate a most awesome salad beast topped with scrambled eggs... 'twas divine! And uhhh... I worked out my self-hosting muscles! ;) I'll be doing a 20 minute sun salutation series in a little bit.

Modern Family was funny tonight! I was watching it with my parents and my sweet mom is always embarassed by Dylan's outrageous songs.

ha! I know my blog is mostly food, but I KNOW I couldn't photo every thing I eat! :)

today I made a simple (and tasty!) pomodoro gf pasta... YUM. I juiced twice, and I ran / walked about 5 miles total. then I got a migraine and it basically put me out the rest of the day - mew!

I hate when that happens :(

I adore tamales. I grew up in Texas and my neighbors used to bring us fresh homemade tamales for Christmas every year after my mom left them cookies one time. At first we were unsure of what they were but then we loved them! We would get so excited every year to get more! Happy Thursday! :)

GeekTurnedAthlete said...

I don't know why, but I love the fact that you are wearing a hoodie. I've been rocking them a lot lately b/c they are so comfy!!

I went to spin class yesterday since I had to cancel my class that I teach due to stuff going on on base. I'm so judgmental!! haha. I may not be able to enjoy anyone else's spin class besides my own!

I wish I ate that bread pudding! I am so boring on a regular basis. I am still working on getting over the stomach funk so I ate broth and savory waffles for most meals yesterday oh, and applesauce. I did do some great interval training and had fun with it. We recorded Modern Family, so I am hoping to watch that tonight!

I'm not sure if Whole Foods is in Canada - I've not seen one anywhere around Calgary and not in BC now that I think of it. But a sample? Well...that'd be awesome! ;) I should get my mom to send me some from home in California!

Oh my goodness! If Texas is freezing please come meet me in AZ right this second! It is 70 here, and the sky is so blue. Utah hasn't seen a blue sky in months I SWEAR. Your food looks so good Linds! I can't wait for that bread pudding recipe. YUM! Also...the fact that you love modern family really just means we are destined to be BFF's. I'm OBSESSED. Who is your fave? I think Phil is the funniest person alive.
The best thing I ate today was my chocolate peanut butter oatmeal. It is basically what got me out of bed this morning. I had to train from 5:45-11:30 and then I left STRAIGHT from there to go to the airport, and have been catching up with the family since then. Today just might be a rest day...Good thing you worked out double hard. Can it count for me today too?? :)

Wednesday I ate fresh out of the oven homemade bread, and some delicious frozen yogurt with D once I got home :) I worked a POURING rain run down in Corpus Christi - whew, those TX winds and rain drops don't mess around.

OMG! that BP looks outta this world!!! waiting for the recipe here too ;-)

Hey Lindsay (and Bonnie), I just checked the Whole Foods website.. there are only SIX in all of Canada! Whole Foods is a lot more common in the States for some reason. I imagine it's a lot cheaper too... i find food in general is a lot cheaper in the States. The closest Whole Foods to me is about 2 hours from my house. CRAZY! Maybe ordering online is the way to go. (or trying a sample first ;) )

Kristina said...

I always love your pics-so animated:) Looks like a yummy day and how do you go wrong with a little vino? I haven't watched this wks modern family yet-DRV date tonight!
