The "Almost" Injured List

Oh goodness I am just loving all the FOCUS CHALLENGE comments. They are all so inspiring. Keep them coming! Day two for me, yoga!! My body definitely was screaming for it.
Now onto another note. The past few days I read tons of blogs who are all seem to be in the same boat (including myself). What boat is that? The “almost” injured boat or the “over trained” boat. We are in the midst of running season and just about to start up the triathlon season, which is all the more reason to stay FOCUSED and POSITIVE! This post is just a little encouragement to do so.

Even if you're not training for anything (yet), …….be good and LISTEN to your body. Can I get an AMEN!?! haha.

Getting off the Almost Injured or Over Trained List Means……………

Spend more time on Nutrition

If that doesn’t get you (us) off the over trained or injured list, then maybe we all need a shot of cortisol?! Yes, I am kidding. Well, kinda
Winking smile
Good Luck to all those racing this weekend. Good luck to all those tapering. Stay positive to all those who are frustrated with their training and almost “injuries.” Embrace Recovery for all those who are needing to SWITCH the FOCUS!

Okay, no more focus talk for today. Time to relax!

Cheers,
LC

great advice, I am so excited for the warm weather here so I can start shopping at the farmers market and getting my csa again, nothing better than local food.

great advice, unfortunately I am not training or much of a runner but I will take this in a different way...the financial/spiritual/organized/happiness path I am on can sometimes get so overwhelming (over trained) to the point of giving up and not wanting to deal with any of it :)

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!!!

Good nutrition is key! And it SO OFTEN comes from local shops!

Ice water bath?!?!?!?!?! Gah. I avoid that even after the sauna. Although I must admit that I've enjoyed rolling through the snow lately. Hm. Thinking about it. ;)

Speaking of recovery, it's time for a nap ;)

I could be twins with Sadie right now- we have assumed the same recovery positions ;) and the picture of the stuffed peppers reminded me that I haven't tried them yet.

i just love your spirit and attitude toward life! You are really inspiring! I love that even though you take very good care of your body, your not consumed with looking like all the overly-obsessed people, but rather you just take good care of your body :)

Your posts have been such an inspiration and just what I need! I've been trying to think positive, but darnit, if it isn't hard! But positive outlooks definitely rub off!

I am not an experienced yoga person, do you have recommendations for dvd's?? During my 20 miler this morning, I kept thinking about focus and really want to incoporate "runner's yoga" into my training.

I would love to hear your thoughts!

I love your positive attitude and advice! It really is so true that we need to listen to our bodies and be good to them if we want them to keep up with all of our physical activity. And really, what's bad about eating good food and resting?? :)

Very important post with great tips. Injury prevention (or recover) is SOOOOOOOOOOO important! And that definitely includes having fun and eating right.. like with that brussel sprout mix! Looks delicious! Oh and that banana porridge. Yum!

Yay for cortisol! Ha ha....just kidding. Great reminders. I don't seem to overtrain, I'm just that lazy :) But one thing it seems people try to skip over is the recovery phase. Working out breaks down you body to allow it to recover and be stronger but if you never recover or rest it never gets rebuilt? Seems like recovery part is just as important as the workout part.

My dad has been really motivated to get back in better health these past few months and he keeps a beer bottle taped up on his wall above the treadmill! haha

I was starting to feel a pain in my hip the other day, good thing I had to skip my workout the next day because of jury duty. I guess something good came out of jury duty after all! have an awesome weekend!

AMEN! Your pics look awesome. I'll just come have you cook for me all the time, k? ;) I love your list and I think you are so right in all areas. Getting over injuries just means fine tuning all the other aspects we need to be focusing on, right?? I hope you're having a GREAT weekend Linds. You deserve it! xoxoxo

My recovery days lately have been on the days that I work. But on those days I still walk 10,000 steps plus because I'm on my feet all day. I am sore, but I love it!

Lisakthrives said...

Gosh, I'm trying so hard to listen to my body. It's so easy for me to ignore it up to a point...and I'm totally approaching that point!
Good food, and relaxation...that's my plan for the rest of the day :)
Have a fab day!

I love this post! CHANGE YOUR FOCUS! Most people get into that injury funk, with the Eeyore attitude and feeling like they know which way is up. I love these ideas and FOCUS(es). lol :)

Great post. So true. I think we all sometimes can get caught up in training/working out that sometimes we may walk that fine line of almost overdoing it ;) I am glad to hear that you did some yoga!! Michelle and I have been really loving it lately, such a different challenge!
