Running Bliss

Yesterday seems so long ago, I think it was because it was such a long day and didn’t feel like a Sunday. But let me start of by saying it was bliss!

According to WIKOPEDIA……Bliss can be a state of profound satisfaction, happiness and joy, a constant state of mind, undisturbed by gain or loss.

You see, a couple weeks ago I had decided to run the RUN4WATER 10 miler. Not really training for it but rather to enjoy the run. There are 2 reasons for this.

  • Reason #1- I tried to run this race 2 years ago and had to back out last minute due to my ongoing sickness. Well, 2 years later I am almost 100% back to health and wanted to redeem myself.
  • Reason # 2- Fives years ago I spent a month Zambia Africa. I was given an opportunity to love on kids who were either orphans due to AIDS or had families but were NOT taken care (basically homeless).  It changed my life! I wanted to take ALL these kids home with me.

IMGP0131IMGP0156IMGP0158With these two reasons near and dear to my heart, this race was more than a race. It was a time to be thankful of where I’ve been, where I am now, and to PAY IT FORWARD! Running was true bliss knowing there was a bigger overall picture. It didn’t matter the pace ran, the shoes I wore, or trying to get a PR.  So when the sun came out (finally), and that starting gun when off, I had a HUGE smile on my face and warmth in my heart.

Yes, I was a little cold in the morning. I am a WEENIE in the cold!DSCF0342DSCF0346DSCF0359

The hubs was great, such a good man to drive me to race start at 5:30am! He’s definitely my encouragement.

Okay, I must add one more blissful moment. Giving candy to cute kiddos and seeing their faces light up!

I may be bias, but how stinkin’ cute are my nieces and nephew?!

Have you had a blissful moment lately? I think we all have these moments everyday, big or little.

Cheers to a new month!

Congrats to Tish Duncan who won the 3 month supply of Honey Milk from our Facebook contest. You're one lucky woman!

Love that you were able to get out of "race" mentality and just enjoyed the run for what it was. I totally dig that!!

Congrats on the race!
It's always nice to have a greater purpose to your run...motivates you to finish well.

I can only imagine how life changing your time in Africa must have been...what an experience.

I'm a pussy in the cold too! I think most girls are.
Running kinda stinks, but not when you have such a great cause behind it. It truly kicks up you "heart" rate!

You read so much about people celebrating their own accomplishments, but in a way you highlighted such a bigger reason for running. Beautiful post!

I'm so glad you had such a great experience running the race and that you did it for all the right reasons! I was just telling my Hubbs this morning how I LOATHE running, but that I always admired runners. I WISH I liked running and perhaps through positive thinking and, well, running *more* I might like it. Right now the only real running I do are intervals/sprints...and it's usually to my fridge hehe ;)

Cute pics! The kiddos always look adorable in their costumes. We didn't get any trick or treaters, but I was able to glimpse a few as we were coming home. FUN!

Such a cool post and a wonderful experience to share with us! I'm such a little punk when it comes to cold weather:) But it's such a fun way to start a race because after about mile 1, that chill melts away and you're warm!
