Feeling Groaty

I'm feeling it, groaty that is! Here I go with another "definition." According to http://dictionary.reference.com/, the definition of "groaty/grody" is..........

1.disgusting. (From grotesque.)
2. repulsive; disgusting; nauseating.

I've got blood shot eyes and runny nose (thank you Austin Allergies), and my face looks like a connect the dot worksheet. Guess its from all the "natural" bars I've been eating on the run. Too much of a good thing is sometimes not a good thing for your pores, haha.

Anyway, I decided we needed a hearty healthy meal to make up for my quick fix dinners this past week. Eggs and toast is good but come on, a wife can do better than that for her hubs. Tonight, in honor of my groaty-ness, I made Greek Oatmeal ground chicken burgers. A.K.A GROATY Burgers. I know, sounds HORRIBLE but wait till you see the ingredients and taste it for yourself.

GROATY BURGERS:
- 1 lb Organic free range ground chicken (I got ours from our farmers market, so GOOD).
- 1/2 cup rolled oats (I used gluten free oats)
- 1 egg
- Greek and garlic seasoning (1 to 2 tsp )
- 2 tbsp balsamic vinaigrette
- black pepper (a few shakes)

Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Let it sit the fridge and marinate for about 20 minutes.
Take our meat mixture and form into patties. I made around 6 medium patties from this. Coat a pan or cover with foil. Place patties on pan and bake at 350F for 30-35 minutes and broil at 500F for the last 2 minutes.

Serve it up. Oh my, this hit the spot. Now lets just hope these burgers clear up my face and my allergies.

What do you crave when you feel "groaty?" And you can't say Green Monsters!!! haha!

Cheers,
LC

P.S.
Stayed tuned for this weekends post. I've been making my own kombucha. Lets just say, its been interesting. :)

Those look great! Almost exaclty like the "meatloaf patties" I made last week, but I used a mix extra lean ground beef and ground turkey breast. The oats are so key though! I'll have to try your recipe and use organic chicken...the greek seasoning sounds good too- I've never had that.

O I saw that Averie made her own Kombucha as well, I'm curious to see how that turned out! those burgers look awesome, I could always use a good burger. Do u eat gluten free buns or eat it wrapped in lettuce? I sometimes make corn flour buns, all it is is 1/4 c corn four mixed with water and an egg. I grill it like a pancake and there is my bun.
I like ribs, but I dont know if that cruel or groaty

Awww, sorry you're feeling so groaty. I'm kind of feeling a bit that way after my vacation too actually. Was soooo ready to eat my own food. Hope you feel better!

Ugh. Allergies are the worst. I swear I have the day MARKED on my calendar that I will get sick. Same time every year, without fail.
When that time does roll around, I usually like to go with something that doesn't clog me up any more. Lemon-anything is ideal. Plus tea... lots of tea.

Ugh to feeling grody! :(

My fiance has been feeling grody and he always wants warm things. Tea is a go-to of mine when I feel crummy and I seem to crave carbs more. Weird, I know... Hope you feel better soon!

Cereal is my "groaty" snack of choice, drowned in almond milk and stevia. But, I would eat those burers ANYtime!
OMG, can't wait to hear more about the homemade 'booch!

Is that what groaty means? I keep thinking of oat groats, which are so tasty and chewy and comforting..totally different meaning! lol.

Definitely making these! Yum...!

Oh, and when I feel groaty/grody, I try to cut back on the sugar. *sigh*

on no - sorry you don't feel well! Unfortunately whenever I feel groaty I want carbs with a side of carbs. AKA Mac & cheese with mashed potatoes and gravy. Your groaty burger is MUCH better! I've never had a green monster... true story!
