Reset Button

I had it all figured out. I really did. My post was set. I had the pictures, just needed to push upload, and publish. But something didn’t feel right. I felt “off.” Honestly, I couldn’t tell if it had to do with the day, the week, the whole blogging concept, etc.

Where’s this blog going anyway? Feeling kind of stagnant, I headed off for a trail run. It was mellow, it was peaceful,  and it was finally a little cool. It cleared my head somewhat too, which leads me to this. A reset button.

Reset-
-set, -set·ting, -sets.
  1. To set again: reset a broken bone.
  2. To change the reading of: reset a clock.
But what is it I need to reset? The reading of my blog? The way I set my week/day? Or is it my own pressure I set on myself? ----> Lisa had some amazing words on this topic.

Maybe its all of the above. The fact is, we get stuck or stagnant in life. It’s probably a good thing because it allows us to hit or SLAM that reset button.

Today I will reset my thinking and just go with the flow.

Today I will reset my obligations and focus on getting ONLY what’s NEEDED to be done

Today I will reset my own pressure…..being more at ease and content with where this blog is going, where my job/life is going, heck even where the day is going.

And with that being said, I am resetting my WIAW post.

WIAWbutton
No need to explain all my food choices or dig into detail about my workout. They’ve all been SET. Winking smile

okay one hint, that is an egg/spinach/chicken hash for dinner.
P1010062P1010064
NEW Mint Chocolate Chip Cookie Healthy Bite Flavor
P1010055
Recipe? Sure, I’ll set it up soon!

Today is a good day to push that reset button. It’s half way through the week.
No need to get a fresh start, just “set again.”

Your thoughts are welcome………….

Cheers,
LC

Love this idea. I especially like the idea of resetting your own pressure. So much of it is all our own doing to begin with. I love your blog how it is. I love that it changes, it varies, it's always full of inspiration and most importantly, it's YOU.

Lately I've been really good about resetting my obligations and focusing on what's most important on the to-do list and following it up with more focus on my to-enjoy list. It's like my reward for getting things done ;-)

I think it's a blessing when we are able to go through a desert of some sort even though it can feel sucky! haha, because then it reminds me to dig deeper and and rest when I need to, and know that I can't do anything on my own really.   Glad that you're feeling better and that it's come to the light! :)

This post reminds me of something the instructors at my yoga studio say, "Begin again."  For whatever reason, the first time I heard that a lightbulb went on for me.  It was so helpful when I would find myself feeling negative, frustrated or judgmental - I'd just remind myself that I'm human and then begin again.  There's always room to change your mindset and this post is a good reminder of that.  I've found myself forgetting that lately and it's time to reset - thanks for this post!  You always have such great insights.

I love the reset concept---I use it a lot with clients who feel stuck in their poor habits. They want to change and they see the problems, but they're stuck...so we do some resetting techniques. Often it's drinking water for half a day (rather than eating)...or doing a new meditation or workout. Sometimes when you're in a rut you just need to throw yourself out of your routine so your brain will snap out of it and see that there are other options!

Happy resetting :)

Resetting was definitely needed today here, too! Working from home welcomed too many distractions, but then I sort of embraced the distractions. Walk to a coffee shop = get outside. Set up a standing desk = get in some time on the feet. Join the lulu crew for a run = tackling these sore legs and shaking them out. :)

Wish I could've been on that trail with you - its always SO refreshing to just zone out with the surroundings telling you where to go.

I learned LONG ago that no one in my life puts pressure on me more than I do. Sometimes I just need to stop and ask myself where is it coming from, what am I working towards, and just breathe and refocus.

Jess said...

LOVE this concept - and have been sensing it in bloggy land for awhile now - I think we all work SO hard to make our blogs a welcoming and fun and unique place to visit. But sometimes, I think we get so caught up in the stuff that goes into our blogs that we forget that these blogs are ours - to do whatever we want with them. To say what we want (or not). To post when we want (or not). Resetting is a great way to put it my dear, and I'm glad you did that last night! PS. I'm dying to try those new healthy bites, must put an order in! :)

Love it!  You never cease to inspire me on a daily basis.  Thank you for sharing this.  I could not agree more with everything you said.  Your food all looks delicious and makes me want to be gf. :)

Stephanie said...

I have a theory: we are all in this community especially for the sake of two things-- 1) our common interests in healthy living and food, and 2) for personality. If, for example, a vegan blogger that you read consistently, and considered a blogging friend, blogged one day about eating cheese, would you stop reading? Or, are you blogging friends and so you keep reading? I'm somewhat of the mind that #1 and #2 make it less important that we have a singular vision, goal or voice to express through our blogs, and just the act of doing it, whatever "it" may be, is important enough. That's what community is for, no? :)

Allie said...

Recipe for those bites PLEASE.
I feel like so many of your posts hit me RIGHT at the time I need them. On Tuesday and Wednesday I had really "off" days. I went to bed just wanting a reset, to start a fresh. At first I wanted to blame it on other people : My boss, my work, my mom, the list goes on. But it turns out I put the pressure on myself. Granted, I need to do certain things ( like show up to work and perform to the best of my ability) but the extra pressure past that is all my doing. And what is NEEDED to be done ? This is one I am still pondering. I have the hardest time separating what I want to do, what I NEED to do and who says it's a "need" ( did I internally decide so? is it a do or die situation like sleeping and eating? Is it the pressure again i impose on myself saying I need to do something). Such a good post. You have such a great way to put everything I'm thinking all together!!

rebecca lustig said...
